about

ElectroSwarm I (any 3 players/instruments with live electronics)

These two movements explore the colony ("Swarm") as a whole. A mass of bees working independently, but together, to reach a common goal - three instrumentalists playing the instructions in a hexagonal array of cells, independently and in any order.

In ElectroSwarm I the acoustic instruments of the trio (or any trio configuration) play their cues and the signal is fed through a "vocoder" which adds a kind of fractal "artefact" to each of their sounds. In ElectroSwarm II the three instrumentalists switch to MIDI controllers in an exploration of the fractal/artefact material on its own.
